A COST EFFECTIVE ALTERNATIVE TO SOLICTORS AND BARRISTERS

Our fees represent only a fraction of the costs typically charged by solicitors and barristers.

Our goal at McKenzie Friend In Need is to provide affordable support and guidance, empowering individuals to navigate the Family Court process effectively.

A Litigant in Person (LIP) has the right to self-representation in Family Court and may receive assistance from a McKenzie Friend. While having a McKenzie Friend is not an automatic right, judges typically permit this support unless there’s a compelling reason to refuse it.

More and more people are choosing to represent themselves—after all, who knows your case better than you?

If you’re considering representing yourself and would like some support, reach out to us today!

ASSIST WITH COMPLETING COMPLEX FORMS - Legal forms can be confusing, but a McKenzie Friend can guide you through filling out these forms accurately, reducing the likelihood of errors.

Please be aware that a McKenzie Friend is not authorised to act on behalf of a litigant in person or handle the case outside of court—for example, they cannot sign any court documents. Additionally, a McKenzie Friend is not allowed to speak to the court or cross-examine witnesses. Unless a judge grants special permission, you will represent yourself in court. However, you are permitted to have a McKenzie Friend with you for support throughout the proceedings.
